Punto Banco

The overwhelming majority of casino games in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and many other countries are Punto Banco baccarat which may also be labeled simply as Baccarat. In some countries this version of the game is known as tableau.

Punto banco is dealt from a show that contains 6 or 8 decks (the version with 8 decks is the most commonly used). A piece of plastic, often yellow, is placed in front of the seventh-last card and the drawing of the cut-card indicates the last coup of the shoe. For each coup, two cards are dealt face up to each hand, from player and alternating between hands. The croupier may call the total. If either player or banker have a total of 8 or 9, the coup is finished and the result is announced. If neither have such a result, the drawing rules are applied to determine if the player should receive a third card. Based on the value drawn, the drawing rules are applied once more to determine if the banker should also receive a third card. When the coup is finished, the winning bets are paid out.

Standard Baccarat Rules

Standard Baccarat, Mini Baccarat, Multi-player Baccarat or Punto Banco are all terms that refer to the same game, a pretty simple one which involves stating the deal outset that can be Player, Banker or Tie. The rules of the game can be summarized as follows:

The dealer deals two cards, one to the Player and one to the Banker;
Players bet on the deal outcome;
Once the bets are made, two cards are dealt with both Player and Banker;
The winning hand is the one closest to nine;
The best hand is 2 card total of nine.
